Hello Kolb Net Works clients and friends
Why are we
sending out a monthly newsletter? In my conversations with many of
you, I mention how studies are showing that email newsletters can
be an important part of your Internet effort. This newsletter
serves to remind you of that and give examples of newsletter
information. We welcome your feedback.
Redesigned site launch
www.businessgrower.com – a SEDA-COG, Central Pa
Entrepreneurial Assistance Network site -
relaunched today after a usability review last fall and a
recent site overhaul.
Ecommerce news
Several large
Ecommerce web sites, including Amazon, Wal-Mart and Target have
started collecting sales tax on their online sales. In the past,
these companies only collected and sent in to the government sales
taxes for states that they were based or had branches in. This is
a significant change in the tax practices for these sites. For
more info, see

Storefront
software used on most KNW built & supported
sites supports multiple state tax calculation. If
interested, contact us for more details.
Retail sales
over the Internet grew by 28.2 percent in the fourth quarter of
2002 compared to the same quarter a year earlier, rising to $14.33
billion, the Commerce Department said Monday. See

Internet Marketing
All of our Corpsite and Earthlink hosting accounts include very
good statistics reporting programs that provide web traffic
reports via a web browser. Live Stats (used by Corpsite) also
allows for automated email reports to be generated and sent to you
daily, weekly or monthly. Give us a call if you’d like an email
statistics report set up.
Spam insight
What are those jumbled up letters and numbers in the subject line
of a many spam (unwanted) email messages? It’s usually to try to
evade detection by software anti-spam filters. Each spam message
that goes out gets a slight change to the jumbled up letters, thus
making that subject line unique.
Tech Term Definition
“Blog” short for “weblog”
short for “web log”– terms getting more popular every month it
seems. A weblog is an online site that
allows a person to write (sort of like in a journal) and share it
with the web surfing public. A “Blogger”
is a person who keeps an online journal or “blog”.
See

Sincerely,
